Hello Elizabeth,
Re Generation No.3, Ann Kermode.
I am speaking from memory, but I recall that in the 1841 census she appears twice in Rushen with a son named John (less than 1 year old) at two different addresses. Once with her mother and once with the family of Richard & Mary (née Ellisson) Christian.
John appears to be the son of Ann Kermode and John Christian (ch. Rushen Nov 15 1840).
In the 1851 and 1861 censuses John Kermode has become John Christian and is living with his grandparents. Richard and Mary. In 1881, he is possibly the John Christian, aged 42, living in Patrick at Beckwith Vein Road, although there may be other candidates.
The father John Christian (my gg grandfather)married Agnes French in Liverpool in early 1841 and their first child, Margaret, was christened in Rushen on June 27, 1841.
After 1841, I lose track of Ann Kermode who had probably married.
Also living with Richard and Mary in the 1851 and 1861 census was a second grandchild, Martha Christian, born in Rushen. I have never been able to find out whose daughter she was, nor what happenned to her. Although when researching the Rushen Cristians in the museum in Douglas, I do recall seeing a clipping of a young girl killed by a vehicle.
If I find more on Ann, I will let you know.
Regards
Bruce
