Barbara & anyone interested:

"Cubbon the Difty" is the nickname of my great-great grandmothers branch of the Cubbons of Castletown.

I don't know whether an ancestor was deaf - I thought this was dhoan in Manx - or what is the origin of the word.

Some still know of the family by this name.

Any ideas?
