and found the following message from Gene Stark:

NOTICE: After operating for eight years (since March, 1996) GENDEX will be terminating its genealogy operations on April 22, 2004. All genealogy data will be removed from the system at that time. Thanks for your support for the past eight years! -- Gene Stark

Might be worth a visit to check out the surnames and other genealogy info and download files before it is all removed.
