One particular Qualtrough I was after was Walter bn 1853 s/o Rev John Q who after attending King William's College 1865-1869, went to London to attend a Seminary with the view to becoming a Revd. like his father & grandfather, however, he skipped the seminary and the family in Texas tell me he entered the British Navy and was shipwrecked of the coast of Ceylon. (year unknown, but must have been early 1870s). And he couldn't have been in the Navy long as he was in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada, married in November 1875. He and his wife had 9 children in Ontario, his wife died in 1897 and he and his large family emigrated to Houston Texas by 1900, where he had a brother married and working on the railroad there. Walter died in Houston in 1934.
Will have to get this family naval story looked into I think, as I have received similar accounts from 2 different family members, who have never met.
