the more usual technique is to use a dictionary of common names - random 10 character (say 40 choices has 40 to power 10 variations - no known computer could go through these - however humans require structure thus susanxxx where xxx = 1 thru 999 is more likely to find a valid address - and thanks to outlooks mechanism of viewing HTML by embedding an invisble but tagged picture in the email the sender acquires notification that this email has found a reader.
