Have tried to access your information but as a non member I could not access much at all. They did offer membership at $75 per year and a seven day free trial but that required credit card details (they must be joking!!!) If you like we can exchange E Mail addresses and share info that way.

We were aware of Edmund's brother John and we lost track of him after the 1861 census (but that is not too surprising because the burial records are incomplete) We did find a John Garrett on the 1880 census in US (Alban, Nuckolls, Nebraska) which is presumably your gg grandfather but we have never been able to evidence any link to Edmund Garrett and Catherine Quirk. Certainly he is the right age and born IOM but there are a number of other possibles - John Garrett was not an uncommon name in the IOM at that time. We have been trying to establish that link for some time without any success.
