Hi Sally-Jane,
My interest is in Qualtroughs....
At this point I have found no connection between Finlo Cretney of Rushen, baptised Marown, s/o Oates Cretney & Christian Fargher, the latter dying in or about 1689. and the Qualtroughs in this string, of Soroby, Rushen.
That is not to say that there is no connection of course as I am still intrigued as to why Finlo featured so strongly in Issable Qualtrough als Shirlogue/Sherlock's will of 1723. See my earlier posting. He was also witness and eventually Executor of Humphrey & Issable (the daughter) Qualtrough's joint will of 1720, also posted on this string.
At this point I have concluded that Finlo had been a good neighbour to Issable (senior) since her husband and daughter, Humphrey and Issable Qualtrough had died almost simultaneously in 1720 and their son William in 1717 and their only other child, Chatherine, was living in Ireland.
If you have found any connection with this family please let me know....perhaps a Sherlock connection? My email is elizabeth@qualtrough.org
I have acquired quite a file on Finlo in my effort to find a connection but at this point no luck.... if you want this collection of material let me know, although you may have it of course. Most of it is copy and pasted material from various websites.
