Re: Early records
In Response To: Early records ()

The Manorial Records for Andreas comprise the Rent Rolls or Lib. Assed., which survive for many years between c. 1490 and 1911. Liber Vast. records change of tenancy and is very spasmodic before 1590. More or less complete from 1590 to 1916. Wills have recently been discovered from 1550 to 1600 (limited numbers) The main series of Episcopal wills survive from 1600 and Archdeacons from 1629. Court records are the Common Law (Lib. Plit) from 1496 and Chancery from 15??.

For all this SEE "The Manx Family Tree" by Mrs J. Narasimhsam. Available from FHS.

I am descended from the very earliest generations of Andreas Farghers through the famale line! I assume you have the late Doug. Fargher's account of the Faraghers of the Ayre. Happy hunting.
