Looking for information on Philip Quayle, born Isle of Man, christened 12 July 1868, Lonan, Isle of Man, parents William Henry Quayle, born approx 1842 (William's parents may be John and Jane Quayle, Ballaugh I.O.M.) and Anne Tomlinson, born approx 1844, Mosspor, Cheshire (from 1871 census) living with three children, Elizabeth Jane, 5, Philip, 2 and Jessie 9 months - Lonan district 4 schedule 143 (1871 census information courtesy of Brian Lawson). Philip was living in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire on 1881 census with his mother Anne, sister Elizabeth Jane, age 15 (Philip is also recorded as 15 and I presumed that he and Elizabeth Jane were twins but christening records show Elizabeth as christened 13/05/1866 and Philip 12/07/1868 so Philip is more likely to have been 12 or 13) and sister Jessie, aged 10 (christened 14/08/1870-all three children christened Lonan, Isle of Man, parents as above). On the 1891 census for Barrow in Furness Ann/e Quayle (misspelt Quail) is living in Barrow in Furness along with daughter Elizabeth Jane and has a number of lodgers, amongst whom is my great-grandfather Richard Hayes (misspelt Heys). Jessie and Philip are not living with their mother in 1891, I have found Jessie, via my great grandparents marriage certificate (1892) when Elizabeth Jane married Richard Hayes, Jessie and her husband were witnesses - Jessie married John Hexham in 1890 and remained in Barrow. I cannot find a feference to Philip Quayle (age aprox 33/35 on the 1901 census for Barrow in Furness - name indexed in local records office - 1891 census not indexed as yet.) I wonder if he returned to the Isle of Man to live with relatives? I can find a Philip Quayle age 35 on the 1901 census living in Toxteth, Liverpool employed as a railway porter. There is only 1 Philip Quayle in the index of our local library living in Barrow in Furness in 1901 and when I checked he is shown as 25, so cannot be the right person.
Any help would be really appreciated, I would like to find the missing link and perhaps find descendants of the Philip Quayle line.
