found probable derivation - Kneen has it under loghan ny guiy (as you say pond of the goose or geese and also shows the pronounciation to include the 'g' ) but also quotes a 1764 diocesan registry entry' loughan e yie' (which I missed on a quick scan of text) - looks as if this got modified into y-yeigh which is some distance from 'guiy'
