Francis PIGOTT (Governor of Isle of Man 1860-1863)

Who can help me?
I live in Melbourne AUSTRALIA and Francis PIGOTT is my great great grandfather.
At some stage and for some reason, Francis PIGOTT acquires the additional names of Stainsby-Conant.
Thus becoming Francis Pigott Stainsby-Conant.
His son is a Barrister/Solicitor: Pelling Hugh Gough Pigott Stainsby Conant and migrates to Australia and marries in Melbourne in 1872.
Does anyone know what this is all about?
The only clue I have that might be helpful is that a William CONANT B.13th Sept 1783 D. 1835,
took the name of Stainsby-Conant as he was the heir to a Mrs Stainsby of Southhampton Row Bloomsbury. He is buried at Kensal Green.
Can anyone shed any light on the change from Pigott to Stainsby-Conant and why?
In advance, thankyou to whoever you might be!!
Regards,
Graeme
