Re: re 1901 census
In Response To: re 1901 census ()

I may not have been much help to you Jenni but I was on a 1901 session but coudn't find the address, so I looked for a William Hewitt that had been born in Burtonwood and there were 2, so I clicked onto the older of the two and here are the results.
50 Legh Street, Newton-in-Makerfield
Head of the house was a Mary Prescott with Mary Hewitt daughter (27)and William Hewitt son-in-law (born Burtonwood)age 26 and then a servant Ellen Dowd.
If this is of interest I can give you fuller details and can list the other William Hewitts that came up on the census. The name Hewitt attracted me as the house I am in I bought from a family of Hewitts and I live in Warrington not far from Burtonwood but of course there may be no connection. Email me if you think I can help further. I may just have not been lucky to find the address you gave but there is a chance the Lane might not be there now. I will check on local map when I get chance later.....Pat
