Re: Parish Confirmation records

Pat, I read it as identifying the father Thomas as being from the 'Belfast' family. Constance Radcliffe wrote about this farm: "..The two sons received his various smallholdings of land, James taking the oddly-named Belfast, with the West Croft near Ballavarry, and John receiving Crot e lough (intack 44). From 1679 onwards, James was entered for a single rent of twopence out of the 16/8 rent of Ballacross; this was officially called McTeare's half-quarter, but was usually known as the Mullen Beg, or Little Mill. This is another obscure address, as titles, not on a stream, but on a now-overgrown lane which comes out on the Kerrowgarrow-Andreas road nearly opposite Jemmy Dan's. James' marriage to Nelly Kinread in 1663 is the first Radcliffe marriage in the Andreas Register."
She also writes that a descendant Thomas lived 1791-1874.

Shirley C Hogensen has transcribed a decree for Thomas Radcliffe Andreas 1874 No 77, which is on Brian Lawson's website: "At a Chapter Court held at Ramsey on the 9th day of October 1874. It being proved that Thomas Radcliffe of Ballacleator in the parish of Andreas on or about the 16th the day of June 1874, departed this life intestate, he being then domiciled at Ballacleater aforesaid...." etc.

His wife's family are recorded in the article "The Corlett Family Tree" in the latest FHS mag.

Sorry, I don't know whether someone could be confirmed twice - but I wouldn't have thought so.
