Craine, Faragher - Manx stowaways 1850's

A couple of years ago, I learned from a distant cousin that my great-grandfather, Henry Faragher, may have left the Isle of Man in 1858 (when he was 17) by stowing away aboard a ship carrying Shetland ponies to America. He is said to have accompanied a man named John Calvin.
I recently chanced across the following message posted by Blanche Crane Thurman on the Ancestry.com website:

"My great uncle, Wm Crane, was born at Patrick, Isle of Man on 5/16/1841. He and his only sibling, Thomas (my g-grand-father) were brought to America on a freighter by their uncle, Clucas Faragher in 1855 as their parents had died.
If you think this might be the same William Crane (spelled Craine on the Isle), I have the rest of the story and will be happy to share."

I was interested in this new information for several reasons. First, because the dates were fairly similar (1855 & 1858); second, because the ship was owned and/or operated by a Faragher. In another message, she mentions that one of the Cranes married a Catherine Faragher upon arriving in this country. I have been unable to contact Ms. Thurman (the e-mail given on the website didn't go through). Has anyone heard similar stories about stowaways to America? I wonder if Clucas Faragher regularly allowed men to stowaway aboard his ship. Also, does anyone have current contact info for Ms. Thurman? Thanks in advance for any help.
