Whilst in the manx museum library ask to see a copy of Douglas Fargher's typescript, researched by Constance Radcliffe, about the Faraghers of the Ayres. It shows your lineage from C1600 when John Ffarcher from Patrick married Ann Quirk in Andreas. It also refers to the lands they worked.
Also there is a short book by Thomas Kinrade which describes the people and dwellings on the coast of Andreas with earlier references, called 'Life at the Llen'.
You will no doubt want to see where your ancestors lived. A number of generations including William's family lived at the Mullagh ( summit) which was sold to James Sayle of Keilthushtag and is situated on the coast near to the parish boundary with Bride. According to Douglas Fargher some stones are still there.
The parish church of Kirk Andreas is also worth a visit while your in the area, looking for names on the headstones.
