If there was one it was most likely smallpox though such deaths are often marked as such in parish regs.
However 1798 saw 1200 troops stationed on the Island in readiness to go to Ireland - apparently foodstuff's were in short supply so this may have triggered deaths of a few already infirm as well as possibly introducing new strains of disease to Island.
