I am searching the name
GELLING and querying its connection with other names ie CURPHEY and KEWLEY.
I have a John GELLING B 1844 in Patrick who married a AGNES (surname possibly CURPHEY)Christened 8th Aug 1847 in Saint Barnabas Douglas. Her parents are William and Margaret CURPHEY. These i am sure are mine (? over agnes surname.)They had a daughter amongst many who travelled to Liverpool where she settled although her parents stayed in the IOM.
I am looking for John GELLINGs parents.
I have found a John Gelling Christened 22 Jan 1797 in Bradden whos parents are
John GELLING and Margaret KEWLEY.(possibly my Johns grandparents)
The 1881 census shows my John GELLING B1844 and AGNES living at 2 Kewleys Lane Onchan a door or 2 down it shows William and Margaret CURPHEY.
I am assuming that these are Agnes's parents. does anyone think there is any connection with the surname KEWLEY and the address KEWLEYS LANE and the link of CURPHEYS living a door away from my John GELLING and Agnes ? CURPHEY.
Is it staring me in the face or just a string of coincidences??
My father always said that his ancestors owned property in the IOM???
If anyone has any suggestions or possible connections please get in contact.
Cheers
