PICKET

PICKET - could this be a Manx name? I recently found my great grandmother, Jane
Elizabeth PICKET, on the 1870 census living in the home of one Thomas QUAYLE in Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. He was born in IOM and his wife was a CALLOW. Jane was listed as age 19, born in England. I do not know her parents names or where they were born in England. I find no Pickets that fit as her parents in the 1870 census. There are abundant Quayles, all from Isle of Man, engaged in shipbuilding, as seaman and carpenters. I hoped that would be the connection and perhaps they took her in after the death of her parents. Her 16-year-old brother was living with another family. Any advice or clues will be cherished.
