Manx Gaelic

My interest was piqued by Frances posting

"Re Manx Gaelic - it died c.1820; by 1875 only the over 50's had a working knowledge; by 1900 a few tried to revise it"

I asssume it died ca 1920 not 1820.

The 1901 census lists 4,517 persons as speaking Manx. Ten of them were under the age of 10, the youngest being 4.

I have not done an anaylsis, but from memory the majority were in country districts in the South.
