Robert Dean Wills Mecredy (1853? - 1907) says in the 1881/1891 censuses that he was born in IOM. He quotes his father as James Mecredy (deceased), a clerk in holy orders in a marriage certificate in 1886. He was a physician and surgeon, studied in Scotland and practised in Co Durham (Plawsworth). Since this name doesn't grow on trees, it is possible that he married bigamously in 1887 in Lincolnshire, citing the father as Hugh Wills Mecredy. Does anyone have information on either of these?
