Thank's Frances -family folkelore has him as a seaman/steward--etc. on one of the transatlantic shipping liners-- and that as a crew member he was on one of the ship's involved in the Dr Crippen affair circa 1910-- The ships involved were the SS 'MONTROSE' on which Crippen sailed-- and the 'LAURENTIC'a faster ship on which the arresting officers from England sailed -- Crippen was arrested by Chief Inspector Walter Dew of Scotland Yard--and returned to England for trial-- Are there any list's of mariners of that era that would confirm or discount this story ?? I'm sure that he was in the merchant marine--any help or suggestion's on this much appreciated-- Regards John--ps Ben is buried with his father William who died at Ballacrawe Baldwin 1892 and his mother Catherine(nee Quirk)who passed away at Ballig Lonan 1900
