In Response To: Key/kay/kaye ()

christine,
i am not able to help you at the moment but as you seem to be the only one that i have found searching for the surname Key Kay and Kaye, i was wondering if we might have distant relations,
my grand father was John Kaye Pickup dob 21 1 1901 of West Derby l,pool England,
The name Kaye came from his grand mother Eliza barton nee key,dob may 24 1835, daughter of Patrck Key dob about 19 july 1795 of Patrick/German, and Elizabeth Turbitt wed 1822 in Patrick IOM.
Patrick and Elizabeths other children are as follows
Anne key 8 june 1828 Patrick
Charlotte key 1838 Patrick
Thomas key 1 jan 1837 Patrick
Also i have a Robert kay wed to Catherine Turbitt [though when i was at the IOM earlier this yr, there was a poss discrepancy on the transcript over the first names of the second set of parents]
children ,
William kay 1832 patrick IOM
John kay 1830 Patrick IOM
Records have it that they were mainly farm labourers of ballahutchin, around 1841/51, though some were carpenters and painter and decorators,
if any of the above sound familiar, i would love to hear from you, also i know there are some not listed above, that i have not had chance yet to confirm,
regards yvonne.
