My name is Keith Norris, for the last few years I have been trying to find my ancestors all over the world. I havge been able to find them in Halifax Nova Scotia, Ireland and Scotland. Recent information has led me to the Isle of Lewes with my family name variations shown as Norris, Norrie and Norie. It is shown that my family is a sept of the Clan McLeod from the Isle of Lewes. If correct then we owed our allegiance to Leod nephew of Magnus the Black the last Viking King of the Isle of Man. The name Norris is shown as Beware of the Man fron the North. This has Norse conotations and I am advised that the Nor indicates Norway and the remainder of my name indicates the part of Norway they came from. Can anybody assist me clarifying this situation.
