Thanks so much Barbara. Yes, this John is my g.grandfather's brother, married to Eleanor Cannell. The age checks perfectly. The John from Onchan must be from another family. There was also a son John (b.1871, and mentioned in the 1881 census staying with grandparents). Your effort is much appreciated.
