Re: Faragher
In Response To: Faragher ()

There were a couple of John James Farghers christened around this date but if you are sure of your birth date then yours must be the son of William Fargher and Eunice Moore.
They lived on a 72 acre farm called Cronk e Chule on the Ramsey side of Laxey overlooking the Laxey Wheel. On the next farm Gretch Veg lived the Skillicorns and it is probable that William's father John married Jane from this family.Cronk e Chule loosely means hill of the walk.
Eunice Fargher (Moore) died 18 June 1870 and William married again 29 Aug 1872 to Hannah McKneale and had the other half of 12 children registered by 1881.
With William having 8 brothers and sisters together with his children you can imagine the gang that lived in this area -to many to list here - but if you want dates, including deaths, let me know direct.
I noticed a crowd from Laxey on the Ellis Island records including a John age 46 and another John age 44 (maybe Mrs John ?) together with Robert 11 Nina 4 Nellie 9 Mona 18 Mary 10 Maggie 16 Lawrence 7 John W B 14 and Hewertson 2 all arriving 1910 do these names mean anything to you ?
William, the father, died in 1902 still at Cronk e Chule but his brothers and sisters who died later were living at Highfield Baldhoon Road Laxey so the farm may have been sold.

Len Faragher.
