Field names would refer to the situation of the field or to some characteristic of the topography, or soil condition of the field. For example on a farm I am familiar with there are field such as the Chapel field (although the chapel has been pulled down for over 70 years). Top and bottom flats, House field, Front field, Dromedary (this field has humps like a Camel- a drumlin hill formed by glacial drift), North and South intack ( fields taken in from the mountain and cultivated. Others had Manx names e.g. Blierry flat ,The cronk (a hilly field) Pirk beg, The Moanee, Skillicorns Lhergy, Lough Willey (wet field). Ballagannel, Lhentreack (spelling ?)
