I hope that the information that I am posting is not to long, but though it would help in finding relatives that are still living on the Island.
The Aunt Beattie last name is Gill and believe that Philip the nephew that wrote both letters last name is not. Philip had three Aunts who names are Vita, Gertie and Lousie and a Uncle named Teddy.

Letter to Dorothy “Hudson” Reimer.
11 Avondale Road, Orchan, I. O. Man, 19th Sept 1988.

Dear Dorothy, It was a lovely suprised to hear from you and all about your family in Canada.
I was very sorry that Brenda was unable to get over to the Island when she came to England at the end of August. However I hope you will pass on my thanks for the beautiful bouquet of flowers she kindly sent when she found she was unable to make the journey. I would have been delighted to have seen her and perhaps she may have another opportunity in the future.

Unfortunately we have had a postal strike for nearly a month here in the UK., and that is the reason I have not written sooner.

My mother and Aunt Christian are sisters, also Aunt Bella who lived all her life in Colby. There name was Faragher.

I was only 3 years old when Aunt Christian took the family to live in Canada to join her husband John Hudson, who emigrated about a year before.
Unfortunately the youngest child a girl got sick on the boat and died and was buried at sea. Mother always said what a nice man your grandfather Hudson was.

I hear from Eleanor occasionally who has paid me a visit in the past from the U. S. A.

My father was a painter and decorator and he died in 1944 and mother came to live with Reg and I and passed away in 1963.

I am now 82, but lost Reg 8 years ago. We did not have any children, but I have 1 brother and 2 sisters still living here on the Island.

Aunt Christian and Morrell stayed with us about 10 years ago. As much as I would love to come and see you in Canada, the distance is just too much at my age.

I hope all this information is interesting to you. It is my nephew Prilip who has written this letter for me.

I am quite well in myself. Able to get out and about but my writing now leaves leaves a lot to be desired.

Once again many thanks for the flowers and remember you and your family are always welcome here on the Isle of Man.

Love Aunt Beattie.

Christmas card and letter to Dorothy “Hudson” Reimer form Philip and wife.

8 Birch Hill Grove, Onchan, I. O. M., Friday 25th November 1988.

Dear Dorothy,
I am writing on behalf of Auntie Beattie. Unfortunately she had severe stroke on Oct. 18th which has left her totally paralysed down her right side and affected her speech very badly.
At present she is in ward 14, Nobles Hospital, Douglas, but most probably, very shortly will be moved to a nursing home. At 82 it is very unlikely she will ever be well enough to return to her own house.
The stroke has not affected her mind, but with not being able to communicate, she is very frustrated and low.
So glad you have been able to trace your family, with living all my life on the Island, I see my relatives most of the time.
Sorry I have had to pass on this bad news to you, just after you have started writing to Auntie Bea. Have a nice Christmas and New Year.
