I've been searching on http://www.1914-1918.net/home.htm and remembered your posting. The following was found and you may want to follow it through and search for more information.
7th (Isle of Man) Volunteer Battalion
August 1914 : in Douglas, Isle of Man - the only surviving Volunteer Bn following the Army Reforms of 1908. A Service Company was formed in 1915, and posted to the 16th (Service) Bn. In October 1915, it was transferred to the 3rd Cheshires, and was renamed the 1st Manx (Service) Coy. In January 1916, it was transferred to the 2nd Cheshires in Salonika.
