Re: Kelly's of Lezarye or Andreas
In Response To: Kelly's of Lezarye or Andreas ()

The 1851 census shows:-

John Kelly born Jurby, Widower, 81, at Ballakeil-a 10 acre farm-on Andreas coast.
John Kelly son,born Jurby,sailor age 46
Ann Kelly D in L born Jurby age 44
William Kelly 26, Ag. Labr. born Maughold
Ann Kelly 19 born Andreas
John Kelly 1 born Andreas
Ann Casement lodger 5 born Lezayre

Margaret Ann born Apl 1848 died 19th Apl 1848 after 2 weeks, hence the second Margaret Ann in 1874.

In 1881 William and Ann were still at Ballakiel with George H, Catherine, and Ida , no others.
Ballakeil takes its name from Kerrokeyl - narrow quarterland- which has been sub divided over the years. In Thomas Kinrades typescript of ' Notes on the Lhane Moar and Largagh Districts of Kirk Andreas' William Kelly's house and croft is on the NW corner of Lough Gat-e-whing on Ballakiel.Around 1945 this farm was bought by Mr T Kelly grandson of William. Mr T Kelly also bought another farm nearby but he was recorded as being from Ballaquane. Since Gat-e-whing is Norse for Quanes Road I presume that farm must be nearby.
At least you have a relation existing around 1945 but with a name like Kelly good luck in your search.
