Enhancements
The following enhancements are being made to Census Online.

Increased ISP bandwidth.

Dedicated firewalls within the ISP, both to protect the 1901 Census Online site and also to avoid impact to other sites.

Improved load balancer configuration to divert overload.

Additional database server engine and the necessary configuration to enable operation with multiple database servers.
The design, implementation, configuration and testing of these enhancements have been proceeding from mid-January. During this time we have provided the full online service at designated service centres. We are grateful for the support of staff at these service centres and all the users who have visited and accessed the online service.

In order to carry out full testing of all the enhancements the online service was suspended totally at designated service centres from 17.00 hours on 6 February. This was to avoid considerable disruption to the online service while certain tests were carried out.

The testing of the technical enhancements is taking longer than anticipated so the 1901 online service will not be available at designated service centres for a few more weeks. We apologise for the further delays and thank you for your continued patience.
