In the course of Qualtrough research, the following Faragher information has come to hand which I post here in the hope it may help someone.
Accumulated from 1870, 1880 & 1900 US Federal Censuses
State New York, County Monroe, Township Rochester
James Faragher bn Jan 1830, age 70 bn Isle of Man emigrated to US 1850,married 45 years carpenter
Margaret Faragher bn May 1835 age 65, married 45 years mother of 10 children, 9 living, bn Isle of Man
The 10 children (all born Rochester) include:
Isabella bn abt 1854
Anna bn abt 1856
Ellen A bn abt 1858
William Henry bn June 1860 (who married Ella Qualtrough-bn Rochester- about 1893)
John bn abt 1863
Richard abt 1866
Eliza abt 1868
George abt 1869
Albert 1872
James and Margaret (maiden name unknown), both born IOM, would have been married about 1855, therefore would have come to Rochester separately. and met each other there. There appears to have been quite a settlement of Manx in Rochester and surrounds.
On checking the IGI there are 2 James Faragher's bn IOM in 1830, one baptised 17 Jan 1830 (the most likely candidate) in Onchan, s/o Richard Faragher. The other James Faragher was bapt in Aug 1830 at St Marks, Malew,IOM, s/o William Faragher and Jane Kermode.
If anyone would like the full census details of this family for 1870, 1880 and 1900 plus some other Faragher info I have collected, then please make contact
Hope this helps someone.
Kind regards
Elizabeth, Australia.
