I don't know if this is any help but here is a recipe for Oatmeal Biscuits, which is a manx recipe:-
half pound oatmeal
half pound flour
1 dessert spoon sugar
2 teaspoons dripping (animal fat we used to get from the butcher - you could use something like cookeen)
1 egg
pinch of baking powder
mix oatmeal, flour, sugar and baking powder. Melt the dripping and add it to the beaten egg. Add the liquid to the oatmeal mixture and form into a good firm dough. Turn on to a floured board and knead. Roll out thinly, prick with a fork, and cut into rounds. Bake in a very moderate oven for about twenty minutes.
