Solely out of pure interest, I would like to contact any descendant of Mary Jordan Rackham, b. ca 1863, daughter of Capt. Wilby Rackham and Mary Billington Crosbie. Married James Caine in 1885, d. 21:05:1939 in Douglas.
My father, Wilfred Charles Rackham b. 1906 in Liverpool, was the son of Mary's brother, Charles Wilby Rackham, b. July, 1867, both of whom moved to Douglas in 1880 with their mother and grandparents, William and Sarah Crosbie.
Charles Wilby Rackham returned to Liverpool, married Catherine Bigley and lived at 20, Whittle St., Kirkdale, Liverpool and had 4 children, Theresa, Wilfred, Lilian and Sidney. (I think a 5th child died at birth)
Theresa (Tess) unmarried,had 1 daughter - Marie
Wilfred (Wilf) had 6 children, Sydney, Irene, Charles, Brenda & Bryan and Vera
Lilian (Lil) m. David Tobin and had 2 sons
Sidney (Sid) had 1 son 1 daughter Raymond and Patricia
All my father's family have now died but all their children are still alive, myself being the first born grandchild. Grandfather (Daddy Rackham) died in about 1946 and my grandmother (Mammy Rackham) followed in 1949.
I have memories of visiting Douglas as a child (Probably around TT time), I can remember the names of Caine, Callister and a Mrs.Boddy and a whole lot of other relatives, too many to recall individual names but I do recollect some children about my own age, (I was born in January,1932) and getting a good hiding for fighting with one of them! The Net mentions a Martin C.Faragher, a Caine descendant, who might have some knowledge of the family history.
If this information is of any use to you or if you can add to it, I would be pleased to hear from you. I am now retired and living in France.
