Looking for Garretts

I appear to have Garretts on three sides of my family tree. I don't know if they are all related to each other or are separate Garrett families. One of my few elderly relatives thinks they are related (but doesn't know how) and thinks they originated from the Isle of Man. At about the same time, Floods (definitely from Peel) married into my family, I am wondering if the Floods and Garrets knew each other too.

My family are all based in Liverpool. Okay here goes....

1) My great grandmother ( my grandfathers mother) Esther Nelson, was born in 1883 to Alexander & Rose Nelson (nee Garrett). It is believed Alexander died at sea sometime between 1904 and 1911 and that Rose remarried a Pop? Clarkson. I can't find anything for a Rose Garrett anywhere.

2) My great great grandfather (my grandfathers paternal grandfather) Charles Nelson married Margaret Hesketh in 1875. Margaret had a sister called Mary Ellen Hesketh who married a Charles Garrett at St Marys Kirkdale in 1872. Charles's fathers name was Charles also. Charles Nelson was a witness at this wedding. I dont know if this is how he met Margaret.

3) Charles Nelson (in 2 above) was born to John and Teressa (nee Garrett), however my relative seems to think that Teressa may have come from Ireland not IoM.

Hope this makes sense and that some/any of it rings a bell with you.

Thanks
Deborah
