Hi Vicki,
I too have had relatives put in the Home as young children and then 'shipped' off to Canada. I have tried unsuccessfully to find two of mine who went to Canada. But you may have more luck if you try the Canadian Archives site. They have a section on Home Children. The url is www.archives.ca
Also worth looking at is the Quarriers site, it is quarriersfamily/index.html
I notice you already have your name down on the British Home Children page so I think that's about all you can do.
I did contact Bernadette on the island who had some of the home Children Files, her email address is Weyde@manx.net or WeydeIOM@aol.com
I also contacted Quarriers in Scotland to try to find out where my two Home Children would have been sent to and for how long, but the only information they were able to give me was that they were sent to a place called Fairknowe Home in Brockville, Ontario. They "claim" that all their Canadian records were mistakenly destroyed in 1934/38 when some one thought duplicate copies were held in Scotland! I have looked in Census reels sent to me from Canada but they seem to have just disappeared altogether. I do hope you have more luck than me, and if you find another source to try please let me know.
Cheers and the best of luck.
Sandy
