Kinvig/Hampton

I'm trying to find a missing link. My grandmother Margaret O. QUALTROUGH Turvill was first cousins with Hilda CASHIN CANNELL (dau.of Jane QUALTROUGH and John CASHIN). Hilda wrote Margaret after seeing a presentation by R.H. KINVIG, M.A. "our grandmother was a KINVIG before she married grandad QUALTROUGH" (that would be Margaret to William) "and we are _second_ cousins of Doctor HAMPTON. His mother was KINVIG, too. I wonder if the professor (R.H.) is related to the Doctor, who now lives in Onchan."

I also have an obituary for Margaret Ann KINVIG HAMPTON, which mentions a Dr. Hampton, but I'm not sure how they would have been _second_ cousins:

"Death of Mrs. M.A. Hampton -- A former Postmistress at Ramsey passed away on Saturday in the person of Mrs. Margaret Ann HAMPTON who was 92 years of age. She was the widow of the late John HAMPTON, at one time Postmaster at Ramsey when the premises were situated in Parliament Street, and her husband also had a printing and publishing business.

"Mrs. Hampton died on week after the death of her step-daughter, Mrs. KELLY, wife of Mr. T.E. KELLY, of Brookfield, Ramsey. Mrs. Hampton was the second wife of Mr. Hampton and before her marriage was a Miss KINVIG of Castletown. Her husband died 59 years ago and she continued as Postmistress for many years. On her retirement she resided in Ramsey later in Douglas and latterly at St. John's, where her death occurred.

"She leaves two sons--Dr. Percy HAMPTON, of Onchan, and Mr. Leslie HAMPTON, who is an engineer in Vancouver. A daughter, Miss Gertrude HAMPTON, died many years ago. The funeral took place at Andreas on Tuesday."

I have no year for this, it would be in the 1930s-1950s in June, more likely the earlier dates.
