When are people going to realise that party politics is no longer the way to go. The world is full of countries "democratically" governed by political parties claiming to represent the interest of the people. These days all paries are the same when the line is drawn. They claim to be different, but when the time comes, their differences become merged and eventually lost!! That of course has been proven time and time again to not be the case. The only people parties represent are those who are the elected politicians within those parties. And any new party can say what they like. "We will do this, that or the other" but ultimately one cannot be sure about that without any parliamentary experience.
Time and again pollies come crawling to their electorate (the people who elect them) every three or four years at election time claiming they will do their best for them: As soon as they are re-elected, they become hog-tied to the party-line again and the electorate no longer seems to mean a thing.
There are the genuine individuals who are trying their darndest to be there for their electorate but when it comes to the crunch at vote time in parliament very few will cross the floor and vote in the way the electorate would want on an issue.
Party politics is a dead bygone way of governing. It is time the people stopped passing over their power to the pollies and reclaimed it back. Have independents stand, vote for them, insist they consult you, the electorate, on any issue before voting on your behalf and make them accountable to you and you alone, If there is no party to become neck-noosed to then they really have no choice if they value their position.
For too long the people have been used, abused and taken for granted. And you know whose fault that is? The people's. For too long we have allowed our power to be taken from us. Our politicians (and any other elceted representatives for that matter) are there at our grace and favour, and as such they should be humble and grateful and willing to serve. Instead, it seems, most are arrogant, high handed and treat their electorate with disdain. Its time it stopped.
However that's where we the people should stop being so apathetic and get involved, taking responsibility for ourlives and issues, and direct our elected reps. to do what we want them to, otherwise they will wear the consequences.
Claim back what is ours. Hundreds of years of the old so-called democratic system of British origin is up for modernisation. Let go of the group mentality and become an individual voice, strong in self-belief, self discipline, self-responsibility and willing to accept any consequences. There's nothing to be afraid of!
