Hi Sue,

I've looked at the possibility of a connection to this Keig family before;
in fact I still have the entry recorded in my family tree program, though I
had pretty much decided it wasn't a fit. In my search for Catharine Keig I
was never able to find a marriage to a William James; mine is certainly
married to a William (Henry) James. This is one of my many unsolved
mysteries; I've never been able to find a marriage record though family
accounts indicate the marriage took place on the Isle of Man. Most of the
children were reportedly born or baptized on the IOM. The only baptisms
records I've been able to find are for sick infants born in Arlecdon,
Cumberland, who didn't survive more than a few days.

I lost all my archived email messages yesterday when I made the mistake of
cleaning up my hard drive. Unfortunately the information about my research
on Catharine Keig was lost and I have no paper copy. I'm sure an Internet
contact told me that Catharine Keig (Keig/Maddrell) was buried on the IOM.

According my Catharine Keig's grandson she died November, 1935. I assumed
she was buried in Arlecdon, Cumberland (Cumbria) because she lived most of
her life at the same address.

Catharine and Henry James had 9 children. According to the 1891 Census
Cumberland; RG12/4312 Fo 81 Page 57 Catherine James was born on the IOM. In
the IOM Census for 1881 there is a Catherine Keig aged 20 in Rushen. The
head of the household is Elizabeth Keig.

Do you know where your Catherine was married? Do you know the names of the
children?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Terry Hayes
