George McKinney-Sea Captain

Family lore has William McKinney born 12 Apr 1786 in Isle of Man. His father was George McKinney and his grandfather was George McKinney. The elder George, a Sea Captain, was lost at sea. The younger George was a tailor. This George must have been in Ballywillin Parish, Londonderry Ireland at one time. His son married Nancy McAllister there in abt 1821. I have credible evidence of William being Ballywillin Parish. It my understanding that professionals, such a tailors, migrated from town to town (there was not sufficient business in one particular town.). This may be why George and William were in Ballywillin Parish. George, the tailor, came to the US in about 1797 and was in Lancaster County Pennsylvania until 1802 and Washington County Pennsylvania until abt 1810. He then settled in Cadiz Ohio and died there in 1849 as a tailor and farmer. George’s first marriage (unknown) produced William. He then married Mary Campbell. Familysearch.com has a James McKenny b-abt. 1786 in Douglas, Isle of Man. His spouse was Ann Callister. Another record shows Catharine McKenney christened 16 Aug 1821 in St. George, Douglas. Parents were James McKenney and Ann Callister. It also has the above William McKinney birth. There is a William McKenney b-23 Aug 1818 in Douglas. Parents were James McKenney and Ann Callister. I believe some of these records are actual Parish Registers. One of William’s children was John Cane McKinney. I noticed there are John Cain’s in the Isle of Man. I hope there is someone that can add to this and help me.
