Gills from Isle of Man

Looking for any information about the Gills who left the Isle of Man in the late 1700s to settle in Clew Bay near Westport, County Mayo, Ireland.

These Gills were ship owners and carried cargo on their ships between Westport and the deeper end of Clew Bay where the big four-masted sailing ships had to stop because of the shallower waters in Clew Bay.

In 1798, at the time of the French Invasion in County Mayo, William Gill transported Lord Altamont and his family to Scotland on his ship.
