Info required on Kate Qualtrough who lived at "Ard Beg", Pinfold Hill Lonan in 1945. She was apparently a fairly prominent figure in Manchester and IOM Seems she was born in or around Manchester prob late 1800's, trained as a school teacher her father was a School teacher who became headmaster of a large Manchester school.. She says in a letter dated 25 June 1945 that" our branch (Qualtrough) has given 5 Parish Clerks noted for scholarly attainments and singing as well as authorities on the Manx language and History. My uncle assisted Professor Rhys in his work on Celtic Lore
She continues "My younger brother Eric is(in 1945) President of the Manchester Manx Society and my elder brother Hugh lived in Wallassey? where he & I endured the bombing (of the war) An elder sister and I were trained as teachers, another a singer, another in cookery. In 1913 I was elected a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, in 1916 elected to the Council of the Manchester Geographical Society and in 1924 vicePresident of the Sale Literary Society....Since my residence here (in IOM) teh Antiquarian Society has kept me busy......"
If anyone can help place this Kate QUALTROUGH into a lineage, identify her parents, name the sisters, the uncle etc, I would be most grateful
