Family story has it that John SOUTAR or SOUTER was a lighthouse keeper on the Isle of Man in the period around 1837; he was married to Jane LESLIE and had a son Simon, and at least seven other children. Have checked the sources on the Isle of Man Historical Society pages, but found only one mentioning the name: "Marian wife of Patrick Souter" who was in court for brewing and selling "contrary to the fixed measure" in 1418, per "Document 231 [MS.510 C]"

Am interested in the antecedents of John Soutar/Souter - can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
