Today, hough would normally be pronounced huff or how, and haugh would normally be haw or hock.

I admire your persistence, and there very well may be people out there who are well versed in old languages, but language, and pronunciation, is transient, and so I think it would be a fair question to ask, at which exact period do you want to know the pronunciation of exactly which name? I would suggest the best place to ask would be a University linguistics department.

Don't forget, although this is a very small island, pronunciation varied, and still does, with the geography. Even in my childhood, in the 1950s, I can remember very different, very Manx accents, from different parts of the Island. This is not quite the case today, as there has been such an articial population explosion, and there are a great many different versions of English being spoken in the Island. We have an Northern Irish newscaster who has her own unique pronunciation of Manx names for all those in the listening area to hear. And so things change. Good Luck. Enjoy the hunt. Susanne.
