I agree with your comments - even if you provide a search engine (as on my web site) many havnt bothered to use it; nor do many seem to know of the ready availability, via LDS, of the 1881 census on CD ROM, LDS microfilm of virtually all manx material and of course your own invaluable census indices. At times they seem not to have not done any elementary research at all. My feelings is that 'look-ups' were fine in days when there was a small number of those willing (and able) to help but now with easy internet access, TV programs on family history etc, too many just hit the keyboard without any idea of the cost of answering their question.
