Re: Ann Agnes Corkhill or Michael Quirk

Hello, My great-grandparents were two of the orphans who were shipped out of Great Britain during the late 1800's. Reportedly, the ship left Liverpool and arrived in Nova Scotia. Her maiden name was Mary Elizabeth Corkhill or Cockill and his name was John Stanley Lewis. They met on the ship. When older, they married in Nova Scotia. After their first child was born, they moved to Stoneham, Massachusetts, USA. They had a total of 13 children. John S. Lewis owned and operated an independent newspaper in Stoneham for many years. So far, we know absolutely nothing else about their past. We are hoping the Internet will give us a few clues of where to start looking for information. I just today found the web site for the group in Canada who is forming a data base of all the orphans who came to Canada.

I don't have the dates handy, but one of John and Mary Lewis' youngest sons was born around 1900. So, John Lewis and Mary Corkhill were probably married around 1880. (Born around l860?)

Do you think there might be a connection between your Ann Agnes Corkhill and my Mary Elizabeth Corkhill?
