Re: Kewley, Stowell, La Motte
In Response To: Re: Kewley, Stowell, La Motte ()

Hi! I may be off base with the name Kewley but thought it worth a try. My grandfather was John Kew, born on the Isle of Man in 1810 or 1820. Emigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia around 1865. His father was John (farmer), and his mother Elizabeth, Isle of Man. My cousin is Terry Punch of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, has become an amateur/professional geneologist in his retirement and has done a great deal of research but due to the extended time between generations we have very little knowledge about John's background. He has come up with a John Kewn, baptised in Braden in 1930 but I don't feel convinced that this is the right person. My father, born in Halifax in 1878, told me that his father was a widower when he emigrated with a grown family in Liverpool. It may be that he only emigrated from Liverpool. He arrived in Halifax with a daughter, Emily. Married my grandmother, Margaret Gerrard in Halifax in 1876 with whom he had four children. I would be most appreciative if you can provide any information.
