Can someone please tell me if it was common for people to come to the I.O.M. on holiday from the Potteries (Staffordshire) in the late 1880's early 1890's?
I have some photographs of my great grandparents taken by 2 different photographers in Douglas ('F. Woodcock' and 'Walton') about this time and I am just assuming they are on their holidays! Is this likely to be the case and if so, what sort of people took their holidays there? Presumably it was quite expensive to get from Stoke on Trent to Douglas at about this time?
Any help anyone can give very much appreciated.
