Thanks Frances. I'll look into that. I did find Ann Clerk (who married James Chapman) on the 1851 IOM census listed as Ann Chapman, living with the rest of the Clerk family, and being a widow (which is correct as James died in Flintshire in 1848). With regards to James Chapman, supposedly born in IOM in 1810, I can't find any birth record for him whatsoever, so maybe I do try the Irish angle. Thanks again! Joanne Lee
