I have a clear line of descent with known relatives to a Margaret Fargher born 1826 Malew, Isle of Man to William Farger (1800-1847) and Jane Gell (1798-1882) who married George Crellin (1822-1853) on 11 Nov 1849. Her parents are named on her baptism record and her poor house application although her death record shows her parents as those of her parents in law.
Their eldest son George Kossuth Crellin is my 2 x great grandfather.
My problem is this. I am positive of this being the correct Margaret Fargher BUT DNA records are showing several links to the family of William Fargher (1794-1865) and Ann Kelly (1799-1861).
They did have a daughter Margaret but all other family trees suggest that she is the "Ann" Fargher born 16 Feb 1820 and baptised 12 March 1820 who married William Edward Kelly and emigrated to the United States. Also her parentage and age is inconsistent with the other records for my Margaret Fargher.
For the two lines to have a DNA connection it would have to go back another three generations to a Thomas Fargher b. 1706 Santon, Isle of Man. Is this possible to have a DNA Match of 8cM to a 7th cousin once removed?
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how the families may be linked?
