Hello everyone. I am researching my Radcliffe genealogy that traces back to the Radcliffes of the Curragh (southern Andreas and northern Lezayre, just west of Ramsey).
My 5th Great Grandparents are:
William Radcliffe (1729-1800) of the Curragh and
Jane Killey (1731-1834) of Lezayre
They both later settled in Maughold.
My 6th Great Grandparents are Thomas "The Contriver" Radcliffe (B. Abt. 1700; D. 1743) of the Curragh and
Jane Curlett (1702-1752) from Maughold.
My 7th Great Grandfather is John Radcliffe (B. Bef. 1682; D. Abt. 1701) of the Curragh. I don't know who he was married to, but would love to find out...
I am looking for more information surrounding this Radcliffe family. Does anyone else here descend from these Radcliffes?
In her book titled "The Radcliffes of Andreas", Constance Radcliffe states that John Radcliffe, as well as brothers Thomas and James, may be the sons of John "Barbadoes" Radcliffe. Can anyone confirm this?
I'd love to strike up a conversation about the Curragh Radcliffes or about the area known as the Curragh as I know very little.
